It begins to snow in the night, and the Fellowship must halt their progress. After being snowed in (and Legolas walking atop the snow) they must turn back. Once they make it down the mountain, Gandalf makes the suggestion of going through Moria. The group is attacked by wolves in the night.

In the calendar of the Shire, there are 12 months each with 30 days, so there will be no results for the 31st of any month, and February will have entries on the 29th and 30th.
