Primary Identification

The Cedar Waxwing is a green bird with a bright yellow splash on the tip of the tail. It also contains a pronounced crest and a solid black stripe originating at the beak and crossing over the eye. Their breast may also contain a slight yellowing.

Secondary Identification

It is common to find Cedar Waxwings travelling in flocks, and while they do not always stay in a single area for long, the sudden presence of numerous birds flitting between branches or to and from the ground can be an indication that you may be dealing with a flock of Cedar Waxwings.
